Smiths Lake residents are working together to build the village's emergency preparedness resources and plans. In June, three residents completed the Resilience Canopy Facilitation Program in Port Macquarie. On 2 July, four residents attended the MidCoast Local Emergency Management workshop at the Council chambers, contributing Smiths Lake's developments to the region-wide community resilience exercise. On 9 July, the Smiths Lake work was presented to the Small Communities Supporting Each Other (SCSEO) group, hosted again by MidCoast Council.
